LEGION BASEBALL: Late runs push Howard Lake past Marshall 5-3 in district tournament

DELANO — The Marshall Legion baseball team fell to Howard Lake 5-3 on Thursday in the district playoffs. Marshall led 3-2 after five innings, but Howard Lake scored a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to earn the come-from-behind victory.

Chase Douglas led Marshall with two hits and two RBI while Brock Schultz added a hit and an RBI and Jacob Hughes, Connor Neubeck and AJ Toulouse each had a hit.

Jake Eben took the loss in relief, going 2 1/3 innings while allowing three runs on three hits and struck out one. Mitchell Bouwman earned the start, going 4 2/3 innings while allowing two runs on five hits and struck out seven.

With the loss, Marshall’s season comes to an end with a record of 9-8.
