Legal immigration must not be equated to illegal immigration
To the editor: Immigration is a rich and important part of American history. However, the current debacle at our southern border must never be confused with legal immigration. Jim Muchlinkski in his Sept. 3 opinion piece for the Independent seems to be supporting illegal immigration. America is, and has always been, a nation of laws. Without secure borders and immigration rules that are vigilantly enforced, the security of America and American citizens are at immediate risk. 9/11 made that crystal clear to all Americans.
