Real Presence of Christin the Eucharist

To the editor: An article appeared in the Tuesday, June 13 edition of the Marshall Independent titled, “Catholics Honor Christ in Eucharist Procession,” outlining the Catholic Diocese of New Ulm’s Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession which took place through the streets of New Ulm on Sunday, June 11. As the article accurately stated, the procession is part of the National Eucharistic Revival, a multi-year movement by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to restore an understanding of and devotion to Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. However, the article’s author ...

Jesus Christ pictured in our paper

To the editor: Awe inspiring it is to see the King of the Universe, Jesus Christ, humbly allow Himself to be pictured for us in our local newspaper as He leads our Bishop in procession. Tuesday, following Corpus Christi, posted in picture is Jesus Christ present to us in the Most Holy Sacrament, the Eucharist. Pictured there, Tuesday June the thirteenth, is Christ crying out for our hearts as we have concealed from our sight, He who is Truth, seeing instead a representation in His place. Our veiled vision is seen clear where there is a reference to the Blessed Sacrament as a ...

Middle school flag situation still not settled

To the editor: As Americans, we are free to support different causes. However, as angry words and acts of violence increase, it is sad to see respect for others and their beliefs declining. Juneteenth was recently observed to emphasize every person, regardless of color or race, should be treated with equal respect. July Fourth is also a time to be thankful for the freedoms stated in our country’s constitution — freedoms that allow us to speak our thoughts and to have our beliefs respected by others. June is now Gay Pride month. There are individuals who approve of gay and ...

Allegations and hypocrisy

To the editor: Recently there have been two high profile sets of allegations. Of course with the screaming headlines regarding President Trump and his handling documents, that is all you hear. The other you have probably not heard of — the allegations that the Biden family has received millions of dollars in bribe money from foreign nationals. Unless you have the wisdom to turn to NewsMax on TV, you are undoubtedly unaware of the alleged corruption. Why is this? Most media outlets are covering up every misstep of the Biden family in order to keep the hands down favorite in ...

It is not creationism

To the editor: This is a response to the 5-23 ‘Science is not religion’. The author mis-represents what ‘Intelligent Design Theory’ is. It is not ‘Creationism’. The theory of intelligent design holds that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. He stated: “But we must base what is taught in science based on what is provable by empirical data and replicable experiment”. He lists 3.5 billion years of evidence as backing up evolution, also the fossil ...

Science revealing fingerprints of first cause

To the editor: Gazing out at the massive macro and peering in on the minute micro we observe an obedience to order crafted into creation such that each has a place and a purpose. At our crowning place in creation humanity has been gifted with our rational minds that we may reason while applying the lens of science so to reveal to us the fingerprints of the first cause. Forming our relationship with the first cause we realize our purpose. Stepping out of our purpose we plunder our place and in disobedience to order we utilize science to rationalize and reshape the universe to our ...
