If I had a pipeline

To the editor: The possibilities are endless. So far, to me, most of the possibilities seem to lean toward the negative side. Everyone is for clean air, but at what cost? I have been to multiple carbon pipeline meetings, both informational and against the project. When the audience has the opportunity to ask questions, the answer to important questions usually falls into one of two categories, “I don’t know” or “I’ll find out and get back to you” so far I’ve never received a call back. See ‘Sounds of Freedom’ and talk about it

To the editor: Last night I went to the movie “Sounds of Freedom” in Marshall. Do you know $150 billion — yes $150 billion — is spent in the U.S. for sex trafficking. Can you imagine your son or daughter being used for sex by these sick people? What is it going to take to get our priorities straight? Take your family to the movie and talk about it together afterwards. We need to stand up for these children and support the movie. Movie sheds light on ‘Child trafficking’

To the editor: The Marshall Theater needs to be commended for having the courage to show “Sound of Freedom. This movie will bring you to tears regarding the exploitation of children as young as infants up to teenagers. In the ending credits as well as dialog in the film, child trafficking brings in more illicit funds than the drug cartels and illegal arms sales. Get some friends to see the movie with you but you may need a shoulder to lean on just knowing that the film gives just a snapshot of the depraved individuals who prey on the innocent. It’s been a great journey

To the editor: It was a cold winter day Dec. 1, 1979, my wife (8 months pregnant) and I transferred from Estherville, Iowa to Marshall to start a new position at Hy-Vee as the food service manager. Not knowing what to expect, I was excited for the opportunity to become a part of a new community and to grow roots here in Marshall. Now, 44 years later, time to reflect on the journey as I retire and move on to a new chapter.
