Vote for Schwartz for city council

To the editor: As Marshall voters in Ward #2 reflect on the strong pool of candidates for City Council, please consider Amanda Schwartz for this position. She is a life-long resident of Marshall, a mother of young children and owner/operator of a small business. She is also actively involved with civic and non-profit committees and youth athletics. Vote for Sturrock to serve on city council

To the editor: David Sturrock is running for Marshall City Council in Ward Two. I have known David for many years through his work in our community. He has volunteered for a number of community groups, including Cub and Boy Scouts, the Chamber of Commerce and for his church. As a parent of two high schoolers, David knows firsthand that young people and their activities are at the heart of our community. At the same time, David also brings experience with city issues. How to fix the Secret Service

A report issued Thursday on the assassination attempt against Donald Trump this summer in Butler, Pa., comes to an alarming conclusion about the Secret Service’s shortcomings. In the absence of “fundamental reform,” it says, “another Butler can and will happen again.” Will that sobering assessment help to prompt real changes, and fast? The 52-page report was written by a bipartisan panel appointed under the Department of Homeland Security. This inquiry into the Butler shooting included 58 interviews and 7,000 documents. The most important election for the future of Minnesota and the United States of America is on Nov. 5. Never before have we experienced an overbearing and overspending government like we were forced to endure these last four years. With Democrats in control of the House, Senate, attorney general, secretary of state and auditors offices, not to mention the Walz Administration, we will face continued disaster unless you get out to vote for change. Together we are better

To the editor: This morning the sun turns the soft orange of morning to blue. That same sun shines on all of us. That is something we all have in common. Yet believe it or not, there is much more that we share, despite the well-orchestrated scripts using fear and division to stoke up incivility and retribution. Rich, poor, immigrant, native to this land, descendants of colonizers, citizens and non-citizens all love their children, feel their joy and suffering and want a safe world for them. Klobuchar response incomplete

To the editor: Much earlier this year, I sent an email to US Senator Amy Klobuchar, asking that she vote against any foreign aid for the Ukraine war. Below is her email response, which is very disappointing, considering her stature as one of Minnesota’s U. S.
