Look at possible school cuts from top down

To the editor: Since my last letter to the editor, I’ve had a chance to continue to review the information that was sent to me by the director of finance at Marshall Public Schools. One of the things that I found out is that our local district is paying 100% of health and/or dental insurance for 22 individuals. These individuals include the superintendent, principals, assistant principals, administration support and district office employees and do not include teachers in MEA. A referendum reminder for township voters

To the editor: The upcoming school referendum requires voters to either vote in person or request an absentee ballot. There are at least three precincts that are mail-in voting — Fairview, Lake Marshall and Grandview townships. Voters in those precincts will need to request an absentee ballot or vote in person. To the editor: A recent letter to the editor advocated mining rare earth metals vital for electronics and solar products just outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area because China has now restricted rare earth metal exports to the US in response to Trump’s tariffs. The BWCA is the largest wilderness area east of the Rockies and north of the Everglades with over 1200 miles of interconnected lakes. To the editor: There’s been a lot of talk lately about people who “stand up for what they believe in.” But somewhere along the way, that phrase seems to have lost its meaning. Standing up for your beliefs used to mean standing for something: for compassion, for justice, for truth. Now it too often means standing against someone, against their existence, their identity, their rights, or their humanity. School district would have option to renew levy

To the editor: Are we, as Marshall Public Schools taxpayers, being asked to give our local district an “open checkbook” for the possibility of the next 20 years? I have recently asked, and received numerous information that I requested from our local district. All of the information that I’ve received is public information and can be obtained by anyone. With the upcoming levy referendum that the school is proposing they are asking the voters to approve this levy for a period of 10 years. Democrats spewing hatred

To the editor: The absolute unadulterated, unsubstantial dislike and complete hateful rhetoric being spewed from elected officials, TV news programs, late night shows and recent letters to the editor is disturbing and dangerous to the point of generating and encouraging violence. Why do the Democrats appear so desperate to spew such hatred?
