NEW ULM–John Schneider, age 71 of New Ulm, died Monday, April 27, 2026 at his home.A graveside service will be at 11 a.m on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, prior to the graveside, at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel. John is survived by his siblings, Renee Buegler of Hanska, Cindy (Greg) Walden of New Ulm, Terri (Scott) Krueger of New Ulm, Paul (Barb) Schneider of River Falls, WI, Dan (Lisa) Schneider of New Ulm, Julie (Brent) Olson of New Ulm; godmother, Carol Kramer; special godchild, Abbey Schneider; many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Linda Mertz and Wendy Schneider; brothers-in-law, David Buegler and Richard Mertz.
Gerard “John” Peter Schneider was born October 3, 1954 in New Ulm to Peter and Mavis (Schultz) Schneider. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1973. Shortly after high school, John started his 35-year career with 3M, where he worked until his retirement. John was a life-long member of Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church in New Ulm. He was a simple man who enjoyed working out at the gym, walking, biking, and running outside, trips to Jackpot, and reading a good book. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
