Lillian went to heaven on Aug. 20, 2018.

She was born Feb. 27, 1923, Lil grew up in Chicago, charming her way into the late innings of Cubs games with her girlfriends on their way home from Immaculata High School. She loved Chicago and the Cubs and her job as a private secretary but a greater love led her to trade the Windy City for the windy plains of Marshall. His name was Edward Langan. Lil met Ed, her husband of 72 years, at a USO dance in Chicago. When he returned from Europe after WWII, they were married at St. Veronica’s Church and settled in Ed’s hometown to raise their family. Lil loved to tell many stories with a single topic: her children. She had eight children and all of them were perfect. She showered her love not only on those perfect children but also on their spouses and on the 24 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren who followed. This love manifested itself in the cooking of delicious meals and the attending of every special family occasion but did not deter her from trouncing everyone at cards and dominoes. Lillian’s greatest love was God. She loved her Catholic faith and believed in the value of a Catholic education. All her children attended Marshall’s Holy Redeemer School and Lil worked there as the school secretary where she shared her love with many more children. For her work in the school as well as the parish, Lillian received the Medal of Service from her bishop and an Apostolic Blessing from the Pope.

Survivors include her husband Edward; children Sherry (Greg) O’Brien, Gregory (Carol), Peggy (Chuck) Rose, Patrick (Nancy), Michael (LouAnn), Terence (Loren), Mary (Mitch) Cox, John (Mary) as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna (Bialk) Doskey, brother Vincent (Lorraine) Doskey and sister Irene (Phil) Stiff.
