Cheryl Ann Bjerke

RENO, Nev. — After a short battle with cancer, Cheryl Ann Bjerke passed away on April 18, 2018, in Reno, Nev., at the age of 64.

Cheryl was born Dec. 31, 1953, in Marshall to father Glenn Bjerke and mother June Bjerke. She grew up in a loving family of two brothers. Cheryl graduated from Marshall High School in 1972. She attended Bemidji State University and received her master’s degree in library science from South Florida State College. For the past 29 years Cheryl had worked for the U.S. Court of Appeals/U.S. Courts Library in Reno, Nev.

Cheryl was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, along with other quilting groups in the Reno area.

Cheryl’s passions were quilting, genealogy and traveling. She was extremely proud of her work in assisting the D.A.R. with making Honor Quilts for Veterans. In the past several months it was Cheryl’s greatest joy when she was able to present Honor Quilts of her own making to her brother Gary and great friend and neighbor Wayne Borglum.

Cheryl is survived by her mother June as well as her brothers, Gary (and Patricia) Bjerke and Tom (and Marie) Bjerke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Glenn.

Cheryl requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred at the family plot in the Marshall Cemetery. The family would especially like to thank Mary Lou and Wayne Borglum, for their loving care and constant, attentive treatment. Also, Cheryl’s many friends who have helped Cheryl and her family during this difficult time.
