Developer updates zoning request

MARSHALL — A Marshall developer seeking to build townhomes on land near Canoga Circle has updated his zoning request for the project. According to agenda materials for the Marshall City Council’s Tuesday meeting, Greg Taylor is requesting a change in the type of residential zoning for the proposal. Even with the change, the property would still be zoned for medium-density residential development, the city council agenda said. Council approves engineer for road project

MARSHALL — Plans to re-align the intersection of Country Club Drive and South Fourth Street in Marshall took a step forward this week. On Tuesday night, the Marshall City Council approved a proposal from Mankato engineering firm Short Elliott Hendrickson to work on the design for the project. The engineering proposal from SEH would have a cost not to exceed $244,850, said Marshall Public Works Director Jason Anderson. “This is a construction project that’s on our capital improvement plan for 2027,” Anderson said. Four injured in Highway 23 crash

HANLEY FALLS — Four people, including an infant, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night on Minnesota Highway 23 near Hanley Falls, the Minnesota State Patrol said. The crash was reported at 10:03 p.m., at Highway 23 and County Road 18 in Hanley Falls. At the time of the crash, a 2006 Ford F150 driven by Isabella Sophia Shultz, 21, of Franklin, was traveling eastbound on County Road 18, and a 2012 Kia Sorento driven by Edwin Geovany Umanzor Canales, 24, of Marshall, was northbound on Highway 23. IVANHOE — The Lincoln County DFL will be holding its county convention Tuesday night in Ivanhoe. In addition to convention business, organizers said several speakers are anticipated, including U.S. House of Representatives candidate Erik Osberg, the campaign manager for U.S. House candidate Heather Keeler, and Minnesota State Auditor candidate Dan Wolgamott. Murray County Historical Society receives $14,000 grant

SLAYTON — The Murray County Historical Society was among more than 40 organizations across Minnesota that were awarded state Legacy grant funds. The Minnesota Historical Society announced last week that the Murray County group received about $14,000 to help with developing a storage plan for their museum collections. The Minnesota Historical Society said it is awarding a total of $610,846 in Historical and Cultural Heritage Small Grants, to a total of 42 projects in 23 counties around the state.
