Construction to close South 5th St.

MARSHALL — Road construction in Marshall’s downtown continues to make progress, contractors and city staff said Thursday. But starting Monday, drivers will need to plan ahead to avoid road closures at both the Main Street/College Drive intersection, and on South Fifth Street between Main and Saratoga Street. Mystery furniture left in MHS parking lot

MARSHALL — There were some unexpected arrivals in the Marshall High School parking lot on Friday morning: a pair of abandoned couches and a stove. While the furniture got some humorous reactions on social media, MHS Principal Brian Jones said it’s not certain why it was left in the parking lot. “We don’t know if it was a senior prank,” Jones said. “It could have been someone who was moving out and didn’t know what to do with their stuff.” There was spray paint on the stove, but it didn’t say anything that seemed connected with the class of 2026, he said. SMAC awards over $235,000 in arts grants

MARSHALL — The arts take a lot of different forms in southwest Minnesota, whether it’s a summer learning class or a big event like a music festival. But it all makes a difference for residents and communities, said Southwest Minnesota Arts Council Executive Director Nicole DeBoer. “We find that all of it is impactful,” DeBoer said. MARSHALL — There’s a lot brewing in Minnesota – from craft beer to wines, ciders and spirits. This weekend, organizers of the Made in Minnesota Festival will be opening up the event to a wider variety of locally-made beverages. “We wanted it to be all-inclusive,” said Adri DeBoer, Red Baron Arena and Expo senior sales director.
