Curbside recycling to start earlier for some Marshall residents

MARSHALL — The Lyon County Environmental Department is asking some Marshall residents to start making sure they put out their recycling the night before pickup is scheduled. Starting July 20, curbside recycling collection on Mondays will be done earlier in the morning, said environmental technician Stephanie Bethke-DeJaeghere. “Due to a shortage of recycling drivers, they are going to be starting (pickup) at 3 a.m.,” she said. Power outage affects 1,000 customers in Marshall

MARSHALL — A power outage early Tuesday morning affected about 1,000 customers on the east side of Marshall. Marshall Municipal Utilities said the outage was caused by the failure of a main distribution feeder switch near East Lyon Street and Jewett Street. MMU electrical workers were able to restore power to customers by around 5 a.m., according to MMU. “We had crew members dispatched right away,” said Tony Mead, electric operations manager at MMU.
