Three injured in Shetek jet ski crash

LAKE SHETEK — Three people, all juveniles, were injured when two jet skis collided on Lake Shetek this weekend, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office said. The person operating one of the vehicles was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Murray County dispatch received a call about a jet ski accident on the north side of Lake Shetek at 10:48 a.m. Saturday, a news release said. Emergency personnel were paged to Schreier’s Campground on Lake Shetek.

The crash occurred when a jet ski being operated by a juvenile with a passenger made an abrupt stop. A second jet ski operated by a juvenile collided with the first jet ski, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The operator of the first jet ski was transported to Sanford Tracy Hospital, and later airlifted to Sioux Falls. The Sheriff’s Office said their condition is not known at this time. The passenger on the first jet ski was taken to Sanford Tracy, and treated and released. The operator of the second jet ski was treated and released at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
