MARSHALL — Violet, August, Greta and Jose were among some of the most popular names for babies born at Avera Marshall Medical Center in 2022 This week, Avera Marshall shared a list of the top 10 names for girls and boys born at the hospital over the past year.

Some of the names popular in the area last year follow along with trends for popular baby names nationwide. The Social Security Administration’s website allows the public to learn how popular baby names were in the U.S. in a given year. The top 10 lists from 2021 — the most recent year with data available — showed a little overlap with Avera Marshall’s list. Abigail, Henry, James and Oliver were all in the top 10 baby names nationwide in 2021.
