Celebrating Marshall – on the road

The Visit Marshall truck was a way to celebrate the city’s 150th anniversary and Runnings’ 75th anniversary, a company spokesperson said. AP Design in Marshall did the truck wraps.
MARSHALL — It’s been a year of celebration for both the city of Marshall, as it celebrates its sesquicentennial, and for Marshall-based company Runnings, as it marks 75 years of being in business. Now both groups are taking the celebration on the road, through a specially-decorated semi trailer.
This spring, Runnings and Visit Marshall partnered up to put images of the community on a semi traveling to stores around the region.
“We thought it was a really nice way to celebrate Marshall’s 150th anniversary and our 75th anniversary,” said Dennis Jensen, director of marketing at Runnings. “We anticipate a lot of folks will see it.”
Jensen said Runnings has been printing wrapped designs on semi trailers for about six years. Normally, the designs feature vendors whose products are available at Runnings retail stores. Last fall, Visit Marshall Director Cassi Weiss approached Runnings about creating a design celebrating Marshall.
“I had seen another community do something similar,” Weiss said. Runnings seemed like a good potential partner for a semi design. “Runnings has been such a great partner, and huge in our community.”
“We loved the idea,” Jensen said.
AP Design in Marshall created the wraps for the semi trailer, and now the trailer is already out on the road, he said.
The Visit Marshall semi trailer is one of a kind, but Jensen said there’s a potential for a lot of people to see it as it transports products to Runnings stores around the upper Midwest. Jensen said Runnings’ Marshall distribution center serves Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa.
