ST. PAUL — A Guatemalan woman convicted for a fatal crash with a school bus in 2008 will face two more years of prison for coming back to the U.S., federal court records said.

Olga Marina Franco del Cid, of Inver Grove Heights, appeared for sentencing in U.S. District Court on June 11. Franco del Cid pleaded guilty to charges of illegally re-entering the U.S. after being deported, and of false representation of a Social Security number, court documents said. Additional charges of identification document fraud were dismissed.

Franco del Cid was arrested by immigration officers in November after they received a tip that she had returned to Minnesota. Franco del Cid was deported in 2016, after serving eight years in prison for her role in a crash near Cottonwood that killed four children on a school bus, and injured others.

At Thursday’s hearing, Franco del Cid was sentenced to two years of prison. After she has served her sentence, Franco del Cid will be deported again, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Franco del Cid was convicted in 2008 of nearly two dozen charges, including four counts of criminal vehicular homicide. She was found pinned in the front seat of a minivan that went through a stop sign and struck a bus carrying Lakeview Schools students. Four children, Hunter and Jesse Javens, Emilee Olson and Reed Stevens, were killed in the crash, and more were injured.

A few days after the crash, ICE officials said Franco del Cid had used a stolen identity to come to the U.S. from Guatemala.
