Two injured in crash in Garvin

GARVIN — Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 59 and 120th Street in Garvin Thursday afternoon, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

The crash was reported around 12:50 p.m., the State Patrol said. A 2015 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Paulette Stefanick, 64, of Garvin was southbound on Highway 59 approaching the intersection, and a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Lisa Zimmer, 54, of Walnut Grove was traveling eastbound on 120th Street, the State Patrol said. The Impala lost control prior to the intersection of Highway 59 and 120th Street, and the front end of the minivan struck the driver’s side of the Impala, the State Patrol said.

Zimmer received life-threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford Tracy Medical Center then flown to Sanford Sioux Falls, the State Patrol said. Stefanick was taken to Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries, the State Patrol said.

Zimmer and Stefanick were both wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not involved in the crash, the State Patrol said.

Tracy Fire and Ambulance, Garvin Fire, Garvin First Responders and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department all responded at the scene.
