Boy, 12, in critical condition after crash in Marshall

MARSHALL — A child injured in a Friday evening crash on Minnesota Highway 23 near Lyon County Road 7 is in critical condition, a family member said Monday.

Ben Menier, 12, was transported to a hospital in Minneapolis, where he is in critical condition, said Ann Bridges, Menier’s aunt.

Bridges said David Menier, the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, had been treated and released from Avera Marshall Medical Center.

The crash Friday evening involved a 2006 Chevy driven by Menier, a Woodbury resident, and a 1936 Ford Roadster driven by Randolph Parde of Marshall, Marshall Police said.

At the time of the crash, the Chevy was traveling south on County Road 7 and the Roadster was traveling north on Highway 23, Police said.

Parde, David Menier and Ben Menier were all seriously injured in the crash. Police said both vehicles sustained significant damage.

Marshall police said the crash was reported at 5:33 p.m.

Ben Menier was a passenger in the Chevrolet, and not the Roadster, as the Independent initially reported.
