SMSU GOLD College kick-off March 8

The spring kick-off for GOLD College will be held in the William Whipple Gallery at SMSU on Wednesday, March 8, starting at 2 p.m. The William Whipple Gallery is in the SMSU McFarland Library located in Bellows Academic at SMSU. The kickoff event will feature keynote speaker Cassie Williams on “What is Your Story?” She will talk about the stories we tell. What is the story you tell others about your journey? SMSU announces results from the AgBowl Scholarship Invitational

Southwest Minnesota State University hosted the 12th annual Ag Bowl Scholarship Invitational, presented by Ralco Nutrition of Marshall, on Feb.3. Over 1,100 FFA students from across the state came to the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University for this year’s invitational. Congressman Brad Finstad and Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach were part of the opening program and visited with FFA students and advisors during their visit. SMSU Creative Writing Program to host alumnus/poet Matthew Ness Southwest Minnesota State University will host Matthew Ness from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the William Whipple Gallery for a Valentine’s Day poetry reading. Matthew Ness is a 2007 graduate of SMSU. He earned bachelor’s degrees in History and Philosophy and minored in Indigenous Nations & Dakota Studies. SMSU to host Cultures on the Prairie Conference on Feb. 13-14

Southwest Minnesota State University will host Cultures on the Prairie: Experience the Stories, History, and Cultures Throughout Southwest Minnesota on Monday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, Feb. 14 in the Conference Center Upper Level. The Day 1 schedule on Monday, Feb. 13, includes a simulation called “Killing Fields” from 1-5 p.m. to allow attendees to experience what refugee families endure during times of war.
