SMSU to host inaugural STEM Symposium

The Mathematics Program at Southwest Minnesota State University will host the inaugural STEM Symposium 6-7 p.m. Friday, April 25, in the Upper Conference Center. The STEM Symposium Series will to celebrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. The symposium will feature keynote speaker, Dr. Trachette Jackson, associate vice president for Research, DEI Initiatives, and University Diversity and Social Transformation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. SMSU Natural History Museum grand re-opening open house April 22

The Natural History Museum at Southwest Minnesota State University will host an open house 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in Science & Math Building Room 107 to celebrate the museum’s grand re-opening following a remodel to the exhibit space. The new exhibits and interactive elements focus on the natural world of southwest Minnesota — the tallgrass prairie, birds, animals, ecosystems, and prairie pothole wetlands. SMSU employees recognized for work milestones and retirements

On March 26, Southwest Minnesota State University recognized employees who achieved work anniversary milestones and those who are or have retired in the current academic year between July 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025. Each year, SMSU celebrates individuals who have reached 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service. The contributions by the years-of-service honorees come to over 760 combined years of service to the University. SMSU Theater presents ‘SHOUT! The Mod Musical’

SMSU Theater’s spring production is “SHOUT! The Mod Musical,” created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein. Performances are April 10 through April 13, at 7:30 p.m. and April 12 and 13, at 2 p.m. in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre. Tickets are $10 and will be available only at the door.
