INDIANAPOLIS – The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team is listed No. 5 in the initial NCAA Power Index (NPI) Central Region rankings released on Monday morning. The NPI is the new metric NCAA tournament teams will be selected in all Division II sports for the 2026-27 season. MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics Department will be hosting a Winter Sports Kickoff social on Monday, Oct. 26, inside the R/A Facility on the campus of SMSU. Red Rock Central falls to Wabasso in straight sets

WABASSO — The Red Rock Central Falcons fell to the Wabasso Rabbits in three sets Thursday night, dropping the match by scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-11. Wabasso controlled the match throughout, using a balanced offensive attack and strong serving to secure the sweep. Kenley Guetter led the Rabbits with 10 kills, while Cendyll Daub added seven and Cassie Bliss finished with six. MINNEOTA — The Minneota Vikings put together a dominant performance at home Thursday night, rolling past Yellow Medicine East 61-0 behind a productive offense and a defense that kept the Sting scoreless. BURNSVILLE – The Southwest Minnesota State University’s men’s basketball team was picked to finish third in the South Division and fourth overall in the annual 16-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll released on Friday. BURNSVILLE – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, and fifth in the NSIC South Division.
