GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East volleyball team wasn’t able to get in the win column when it hosted Redwood Valley for a non-conference matchup Thursday night. The Sting put up a valiant fight in the third set but fell 25-13, 25-12, 25-23. Everra Leenerts and Charlotte Paslawski led the Rabbits’ back-row defense with 10 and nine digs, respectively. Wabasso drops match to SESM in four sets

WABASSO — A bounce-back second set wasn’t enough for the Wabasso volleyball team when it hosted Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s for a Tomahawk Conference matchup on Thursday. The Rabbits dropped the first set 25-14 before claiming the second 25-16, but St. Mary’s edged out the Rabbits in the final two sets, 25-23 and 26-24. EDGERTON — The Lakeview volleyball team’s strong defensive effort at the net led the Lakers to a 3-0 sweep over Edgerton in a Thursday non-conference matchup, 25-16, 25-15, 25-13. The Lakers finished the day with blocks from Jaela Schmidt, Taylor Hinz, Laia Javens, Allison Isaacs and Avery Hinz. SMSU football to host free youth clinic as part of Ag Bowl this Saturday

MARSHALL The Southwest Minnesota State University football program will host a FREE youth clinic as part of the annual Ag Bowl this Saturday, Sept. 12, at Mattke Field at The Schwan Regional Event Center.
