Ubl's 39 digs lead RRC to third straight win

SLEEPY EYE — Amelia Ubl had a standout defensive performance with 39 digs for the Red Rock Central volleyball team on Monday night. The effort culminated in the Falcons’ third straight win, topping Sleepy Eye 22-25, 25-8, 25-22, 26-24 in non-conference play. In addition to Ubl, the Falcons got defensive production from Kendra Schroeder’s 23 digs and Natasha Erickson’s 18. Victoria Pankonin also logged a block in the front row. LAKE CITY – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team is currently tied for fifth place, shooting a 34-over-par 322, following round one of the 12-team Jewel Invite hosted by Concordia-St. Paul and played at the par-72 Jewel Golf Club. Augustana is in first place with a score of 303 and holds a two-stroke lead over Sioux Falls. Blackjacks fall to Hancock in straight sets

HANCOCK — Dawson-Boyd volleyball hit the road for a matchup with Hancock, falling to the home team in a three-set sweep. The Blackjacks fell 11-25, 13-25, 26-28. Kate Gruwall led Dawson-Boyd with five service aces, while Kadyn Perkins added two and Emma Stotesbery had one. Perkins also led the Blackjacks with 15 kills, while Stotesbery recorded a team-high eight digs and 18 assists. Dawson-Boyd will return to action Sept. 21 with a road matchup against Minneota. First serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

RTR volleyball wins four straight to improve to 6-1

TYLER — After a strong weekend, RTR volleyball has won four consecutive matches and improved to 6-1 on the season. The Knights defeated Adrian/Ellsworth in three sets last Thursday before adding two more victories Saturday, sweeping both Luverne and Red Rock Central. All seven of RTR’s matches this season, including its lone loss to Minneota, have ended in sweeps. The Knights will look to keep rolling Sept. 22 when they travel to Westbrook-Walnut Grove. First serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
