HUTCHINSON — Sam Meier and Marshall’s balanced rushing attack helped the Tiger football squad upset No. 5 Hutchinson for a 27-13 win on Friday. The victory was the 300th for head coach Terry Bahlmann in his coaching career, including his time in Marshall and Iowa. Marshall jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter, though Hutchinson tightened up the game with 13 unanswered points in the second. MANKATO – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team (1-6-2, 1-4-1 NSIC) suffered a 6-0 setback to Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon. Minnesota State finished the match with a 25-8 advantage in shots and held a 12-3 edge in shots on goal. The Mavericks also recorded 11 corner kicks compared to none for SMSU. SLEEPY EYE — Despite jumping out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter, TMB football was unable to maintain its momentum as the Panthers fell to Sleepy Eye United 40-28. Jackson Kruse led TMB at quarterback, throwing for 92 yards and a touchdown. He also had a strong performance on the ground, rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns. Tigers set season high with nine-goal shutout of Worthington

MARSHALL — The Marshall girls soccer team left nothing on the field Thursday night, exploding for nine goals in a shutout victory over Worthington. The nine-goal performance marked a new season high for the Tigers and improved their record to 4-3-2 on the season. Marshall will return to action Sept. 26 with a 1 p.m. road matchup against Willmar.
