CANBY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton volleyball team picked up a 3-0 Camden Conference sweep of Canby on Thursday, 25-13, 25-22, 25-21. Rachel Jelen led Canby offensively with eight kills in the loss, followed by seven apiece from Tatum Christianson and Karli Weber. Weber and Jelen each also logged an ace block in the match. In the back row, Jayda Namken finished with a team-high nine digs. Shyanna Stoll tallied 19 set assists for the Lancers. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton gets back to .500 on the year at 14-14 with the win. Dawson-Boyd snaps four-match skid with sweep of LQPV

DAWSON — The Dawson-Boyd volleyball team snapped its four-match skid on Thursday night, sweeping Lac qui Parle Valley 25-18, 25-19, 25-18 in Camden Conference play behind Emma Stotesbery’s 12 digs. In addition to Stotesbery, the Blackjacks got back-row contributions from Claire Stratmoen’s 10 digs and Kadyn Perkins’ eight. Perkins also tied Lilly Lee with a team-high seven kills while serving up four aces. Dawson-Boyd improves to 6-18 and wraps up its regular season in Granite Falls on Monday at 7 p.m. against Yellow Medicine East (5-19).

SMSU cross country places fifth and sixth at Mount Marty Invite

YANKTON – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s and men’s cross country squads competed in its final meet prior to the conference championships on Thursday at the Mount Marty Lancer Invite held at Fox Run Golf Course. The SMSU women’s team placed fifth with 153 points, while the men’s team finished sixth closing with 146 points. South Dakota School of Mines won both the five-team women’s invite (37 points), while the men’s team finished with 22 points in the six-team race. JACKSON — The Marshall volleyball team capped its regular season with a dominant performance on the road Thursday, sweeping Jackson County Central 25-11, 25-10, 25-17 to claim its 13th consecutive Big South Conference championship. The Tigers controlled the match throughout, winning the first two sets by double digits before closing out the sweep with a 25-17 victory in the third. MINNEOTA — Valgene “Whip” Whipple left a lasting impression on the Minneota community through his passion for basketball, his commitment to young athletes and the relationships he built throughout his coaching career. LOUIS PARK — The Marshall football team delivered a dominant performance on the road, shutting out Benilde-St. Margaret’s 38-0 to close out the regular season and build momentum heading into the playoffs. The Tigers set the tone early, scoring seven points in the opening quarter before breaking the game open with 21 points in the second quarter.
