LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team made strides on Thursday, claiming its first set victory of the season against Southwest Minnesota Christian. Still, the Falcons weren’t able to ride that momentum to a win as they fell 25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 to the Eagles in Red Rock Conference play. MADISON — A well-rounded effort helped the Yellow Medicine East volleyball team pick up its first win of the season on Thursday. Taking on Lac qui Parle Valley, the Sting got contributions from up and down their roster as they swept the Eagles 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 in Camden Conference play. Everra Leenerts ended the night with a team-high 10 kills, followed by eight from Bailey Mortenson and seven from Abby Bones. Canby/Minneota girls dominate home invite, boys take third

CANBY — The Canby/Minneota girls cross country team dominated its home invitational on Thursday, finishing with three of the top-6 runners in the eight-team event. The Lancers finished with 37 points, beating out Flandreau’s 56 and Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg’s 76. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton also finished with 201 points, and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Lakeview placed fifth and sixth with 111 and 113, respectively. Crossing the border to take on Sioux Falls Christian, the Tigers rode standout performances from Kezlyn Pinckney and Julia Fahl to a 25-19, 19-25, 25-12, 25-23 win. WESTBROOK — Tenacious defensive effort set the tone for the Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team on Thursday as the Chargers downed Pipestone Area 25-16, 29-27, 25-15 to earn their fifth victory in their last six matches.
