WABASSO — Brock Fier reached his 100th career win as the No. 5 Minneota boys wrestling team picked up a trio of dual wins over Wabasso, Adrian and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City on Saturday. The Wabasso boys wrestling team competed in two duals, dropping both, but were highlighted by pins from Zeke Olson and Brillin Wagner.

The Vikings cruised to victories in their three victories. They defeated Wabasso 58-7, Adrian Area 56-10 and ACGC 61-11.

Fier got to his milestone win after defeating Olson in a 13-4 major decision and pinning Adrian’s Keaton Schettler in 57 seconds in the 172 class. Fier didn’t compete against ACGC.

Minneota picked up several pins and major decisions over the course of the three matches.

The Vikings will next compete in today’s triangular in Tracy at 5 p.m., and Wabasso will head to the Minnewaska Invitational on Friday at 4 p.m.

DB United boys place 6th at Rumble on the Red

FARGO, N.D. — The Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley/Montevideo United wrestling team placed sixth among boys squads at the Rumble on the Red wrestling tournament over the weekend. The Blackjacks finished with a team score of 97.5, led by fourth place finishes from Eli Olson and Ben Gunlogson, a fifth-place finish from Gavin Mortenson and sixth-place finishes from Kameron Sather and Holland Schacherer.

Simley was the top boys team with 166 points, followed by Holdingford at 130, Moorhead at 105 and Mounds View at 98.5. Willmar also placed fourth at 97.5.

The Fulda/Murray County Central boys wrestling team also competed at the event, placing 48th with 18.5 points.

United returns to action tonight with a dual at New Ulm at 5 p.m., while F/MCC gets back in action on Saturday in a tournament at Sheldon, Iowa at 10 a.m.

Wabasso places 17th at Belle of the Border

ST. JAMES — The Wabasso girls wrestling team placed 17th out of 27 teams at the Belle of the Border Invitational over the weekend, led by medalists Macy Rohlik and Melany Kramer.

Rohlik earned a fourth-place finish for the Rabbits in 130 while Kramer earned a 7th-place medal in 136.

Marshall also finished one spot behind Wabasso in 18th place, with the Rabbits earning 28 points and the Tigers earning 27. Esther Say placed fourth to lead Marshall in 170 while Traeh Siekmann picked up an eighth-place finish in 124.

Red Rock Central’s Piper Bundy-Cairns finished 7th in 148.

Southeast Polk (Iowa) won the meet at 214.5, followed by Canton (S.D.) at 184 and Spencer (Iowa) at 184.
