REDWOOD FALLS — The No. 7 Marshall boys wrestling team had a strong performance over the weekend at the two-day Redwood River Riot tournament, taking second place of 35 teams. The sixth-ranked Minneota boys wrestling team also came away with a fifth-place finish, while the Dawson-Boyd/Lac Qui Parle/Montevideo United team finished in seventh.

The Tigers finished runners-up with 143.5 points, only behind Holdingford’s 163.5 first-place finish.

Marshall had a handful of podium finishers, led by Lincoln Christenson and Brayden Chandler both taking first place in the 121 and 172 class, respectively.

Keynan Coequyt took third in the 127, and was given an award for “Most Pins in Least Amount of Time.” He recorded a trio of pins by times of 2:24, 1:39 and in 54 seconds in the championship.

Tyson Louwagie had a fourth-place finish in the 152 class, while Tyler Kraft took seventh and Dawson DeCamp placed eighth in the 189 and 145 rounds, respectively.

Minneota was led by Adam DeVlaeminck’s runner-up finish in the 145, while Mason Javers and Cael Fier also placed third.

UNITED’s Eli Olson was a champion in the 114 class, and Kameron Sather came in second in the 152.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove was powered by David Schuh’s runner-up finish in the 139 class.

Minneota finished with 129 points for its fifth-place finish, and UNITED recorded 109.5 points. TMB/WWG came up in 10th place with 83.5 points, while Fulda/Murray County Central followed close behind in 11th with 80 points.

No. 9 Canby tallied 66 points for 15th place, and Wabasso finished in 32nd with 24.5 points.
