Lanoue, Ankrum’s double-doubles lead TMB past RRC

TMB 69, RRC 27

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton girls basketball team put an end to a six-game loss streak with a 69-27 win over Red Rock Central Monday night. Gretchen Lanoue led the way with a 15-point, 14-rebound double-double along with a team-high seven steals.

Melaine Ankrum also had a double-double performance with 13 points and 11 rebounds along with five steals.

The Panthers grabbed 19 steals and 49 rebounds on the night while holding the Falcons to just eight steals and 35 rebounds, while also shooting 34% from the field and RRC’s 20%.

Taylor Munson and Braelynn Kirk each had 9 points as well.

For the Falcons, Brai Olson led with 13 points, while Celia Vogel followed with 9 points in addition to her six rebounds and three assists.

TMB (3-6) will return to the court next Friday on the road to take on Murray County Central (5-3) at 3:30 p.m.

RRC (0-9) will host Renville County West (1-7) next Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Lakeview 84, Wabasso 54

WABASSO — The Lakeview girls basketball team extended its streak to seven consecutive wins after defeating Wabasso 84-54 Monday night with three Lakers finishing in double-figure scoring.

Anah Schmidt led the way with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Brynn Stensrud and Brook Gunlogson followed with another 14 points each. Stendrud had a team-high seven assists.

Jovie Benson was a defensive force with six steals to her 5 points, while Gunglogson and Reagan Bossuyt each had a trio of steals as well.

The Lakers tallied 32 rebounds and 21 steals on the night, pulling ahead powered by their defense.

Wabasso (2-7) will stay on the road to Lester Prairie today with a 6 p.m. tipoff.

Lakeview (7-1) will look to keep its momentum going when it hosts Cedar Mountain (4-1) next Monday at 5:45 p.m.

Hancock 59, Minneota 54

MINNEOTA — The Minneota girls basketball team came up just short in a 59-54 loss to Hancock Monday night.

Jaylyn Coequyt led the way with 24 points, 13 rebounds and five steals, while Autum Anderson followed with another 19 points.

Although the Vikings outrebounded Hancock 34-24, the Owls were efficient from the perimeter with 7 of 10 3-point shooting, while Minneota shot 1 of 12 from deep.

From the field, Hancock shot 38% to Minneota’s 31%.

Minneota (3-3) will participate in next week’s holiday tournament at Southwest Minnesota State University, and will face Sleepy Eye (5-4) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

RTR 62, Dawson-Boyd 43

DAWSON — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton girls basketball team came away with a 62-43 win over Dawson-Boyd Monday evening.

The Knights had a well-balanced shooting effort with four players scoring in double figures.

Paisley Thooft and Makayla Hesse each had 11 points, followed by Brezlyn Buchert and Ava Guida’s 10 points each. Thooft also had 12 rebounds to round out a double-double performance, along with three steals.

Overall, the Knights shot 34% from the field to Dawson-Boyd’s 25%.

Alyssa Swedzinski led the Blackjacks with 11 points behind a trio of 3-pointers and a team-high nine rebounds, while Claire Stratmoen and Alivia Estling followed with 10 points each.

Dawson-Boyd (1-6) has a fast turnaround and will host Ortonville (0-6) today at 7 p.m.

RTR (4-4) will participate in next week’s holiday tournament at Southwest Minnesota State University, and will take on Renville County West (1-7) on Monday at 3 p.m.

ACGC 61, YME 54

GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East girls basketball team fell short to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Monday night 61-54.

YME (3-4) will quickly hit the court again today, hosting Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at 7:15 p.m.
