Bradley named Mid-South White MVP, Minneota earns 11 All- District honorees

MINNEOTA –The Mid-South White All-District teams were announced this week, led by Minneota with six first-team selections, five honorable mentions and five Academic All-District selections.

Running back Kellen Bradley was named the District Most Valuable Player, as well as the top running back. He finished his season with 1,526 yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground, averaging 8.5 yards per attempt, while also contributing 12 catches for 163 yards and three touchdowns.

Also earning some hardware for the Vikings, Kyson Arndt was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year after racking up six sacks and tying Brock Fier with a team-leading 11 tackles for loss.

Other Minneota first-teamers included offensive lineman Dalton Orvis, linebacker Randy Sorensen, defensive back Easton Johnston and quarterback Tristen Sussner. Sussner was one of three sophomores to make the first team, along with Lakeview’s Chance Kosel and MACCRAY’s Kooper Klinghagen, while Sussner was Minneota’s lone junior on the first team.

Sussner threw for 1,620 yards on the season while running for 188, combining for 33 total touchdowns with nine interceptions. Sorsensen, meanwhile, led the defense with 92 total tackles as well as five sacks, an interception and nine tackles for loss.

Johnston had five interceptions on the season to tie Ian Myhre for second on the team.

Canby’s football team earned a pair of district awards, with Cody Stoll earning the Quarterback of the Year selection and Cash Antony being named the Wide Receiver of the Year. Stoll threw for 1,754 yards with 13 touchdowns on seven interceptions, while Antony caught 39 passes for 722 yards and nine touchdowns.

Antony and Stoll were each first-team selections for the Lancers, alongside Dyllon Christianson and Jace Sigler. Sigler was the Lancers’ leading rusher with 245 yards and three touchdowns and his 51 total tackles ranked third on the team.

Christianson came up with a team-leading four tackles for loss and 56 total tackles, trailing only Stoll’s 58 total tackles. Stoll also intercepted a pair of passes on defense.

Lakeview defensive back Braylon Breyfogle and offensive lineman Jackson Staab were each named the district Player of the Year at their respective positions. Breyfogle intercepted four passes on the season and recovered a pair of fumbles, resulting in two defensive touchdowns, and led the Lakers’ receiving corps with 208 of the team’s 355 receiving yards. He also accounted for three of Lakeview’s four receiving touchdowns and ran in another six.

In addition to Breyfogle and Staab, Kosel and Garrett Schafer each also made the first team. Schafer led the Lakeview offense with 107 carries for 1,066 yards — averaging 9.96 yards per attempt — with 15 touchdowns, while Kosel added 727 yards with seven touchdowns.

Dawson-Boyd’s Kameron Sather was named the district’s linebacker of the year. He was one of five Blackjacks named to the first team along with Nathan Hansen, Gunner Liebl, Colten Bothun and Ace Larson.

Minneota had 11 different players acknowledged on the All-District release. In addition to its first-teamers, Brock Fier, Hunter Carstensen, Caleb Bottelberghe and Joey Lacek were each named as honorable mentions while Tom DeSmet was named Academic All-District. DeSmet was joined on the academic team by Lacek, Bottelberghe and Sussner. Minneota’s five Academic All-District selections tied Lac qui Parle Valley for a district-high.

For the Blackjacks, Jaxton Hastad and Evan Mork were named Academic All-District and honorable mentions, joined by Aedyn Dahl, Holland Schacherer and Kingston Johnson-Crosby on the honorable mention list.

Cody Helmke, Dustin Schlenner, Conner Moseng and Jared Bot were each named honorable mentions for Lakeview, with Schlenner and Staab each getting the nod as Academic All-District selections, while Isaac Bollerud was an honorable mention and Academic All-District for Canby. Brennan Giese and Daven VanEngen were each also named as honorable mentions.

Yellow Medicine East’s Drew Monson and Cooper McCosh were each named to the All-District first team and academic team. Gavin Torvik, Hayden Kuehn, Max Bennett, Jack Mesink and Eastom Jaenisch were named as honorable mentions.
