Sabino Us scores last-minute goal as Tigers beat Wings 4-3
ST. JAMES — A last-minute goal from Sabino Us lifted the Marshall boys soccer team past Wings United, 4-3, despite a furious second-half comeback effort from Wings.
Marshall led 3-1 for the bulk of the game before a penalty helped Wings United come back and tie the game at three goals apiece. Yet, Us came up clutch and netted the game-winning goal with 43 seconds left to put Marshall on top.
Karsten Springborg helped Marshall build its lead early on, netting his first goal of the day halfway through the first half and completing the brace with a second goal 12 minutes into the second.
Isaiah MacMurchy followed up Springborg’s first goal with one of his own less than a minute later.
Caden Hess started in goal for Marshall while Braylon Oui took over in the second half for his first varsity action. Each of the two goalies made a pair of saves on the day.
Isaiah Argueta led Marshall with five shots while Springborg contributed another three.
Marshall improves to 5-4 on the year with the win and goes on the road on Thursday to take on New Ulm at 7 p.m. with the hope of handing the Eagles (6-0) their first loss of the season.
