Drake logs 12 kills, 12 digs in win over TCU

MONTGOMERY — Reese Drake logged 12 kills and 12 digs to lead the No. 1 Marshall volleyball team to a sweep of Tri-City United in a Big South Conference Black division matchup. The senior outside hitter’s effort helped Marshall attain a 25-11, 25-11, 25-13 victory.
Avery Fahl tied Drake with a team-leading 12 kills, followed by another nine from Julia Fahl. Avery and Julia each also served up an ace in the match, falling shy of only Kezlyn Pinckney’s three.
Pinckney tied Drake with a team-leading 12 digs while Nora Holmgren added another four. Holmgren was also one of two Tigers with an ace block in the match along with Julia Fahl.
Brooke Gillingham was Marshall’s leading facilitator in the match with 25 set assists while Avery Fahl contributed another 17.
Marshall (19-1, 6-0 BSB) hosts Class A No. 2 Mayer Lutheran (15-4) on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
No. 7 Canby 3, RCW 0
CANBY — Emily Nelson’s 16 set assists and 10 kills helped lead the No. 7 Canby volleyball team to its third consecutive sweep over Renville County West Tuesday night in a Camden South Conference matchup. The Lancers won in sets of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-22.
Canby was aggressive on the offensive end with seven kills each from both Brynn Kockelman and Karlie Wollum, along with another eight from Karli Weber.
The Lancers also shined on defense, with 57 total team digs. Senior libero Jaryn Houseman finished with a team-high 17 digs, while Wollum followed with another 12. Kockelman, Grace Hansen and Weber also had a pair of blocks throughout the night.
Along with Nelson, Kockelman dished out a team-high 21 set assists.
Tuesday marks three straight sweeps for the Lancers, who recently picked up wins over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg and Lac qui Parle Valley last week.
Canby (12-8, 5-2 CC) returns to action on Thursday, hosting top-ranked Minneota (18-2, 7-0 CC) at 7 p.m.

WESTBROOK — Sydney Foster’s seven service aces led the Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team to its third consecutive sweep over Red Rock Central Tuesday night in a Red Rock Conference matchup, in sets of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21.
For the Chargers, Leah Carter and Carlie Ross shared a team-high nine kills, while Hadley Jenniges paced the offense with 24 set assists.
On the defensive end, Ross and Leah VanDeWiele finished the night with 14 and 12 digs, respectively. Myah Maznio had a trio of blocks.
For the Falcons, Abby Evans and Ally Linder finished the night with seven and six kills, while Natasha Erickson had 12 set assists.
Amelia Ubl had a team-best 12 digs, and Erickson and Keena Kosel both tallied 11 each.
Westbrook-Walnut Grove (14-5, 6-1 RR) heads to Marshall Middle School on Friday for the first day of competition at the Jimmy John’s Invitational. The Chargers will take on Benson (8-5) at 5:30 p.m. and Renville County West (9-4) at 7:30 p.m.
Red Rock Central (4-12, 3-4 RR) returns to Lamberton to face off against Cedar Mountain (12-6) on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
Lakeview 3, YME 0
GRANITE FALLS — Kiara Hinz did a little bit of everything with 13 kills, a trio of service aces and four digs to lead the Lakeview volleyball team to a sweep over Yellow Medicine East Tuesday night in a Camden South Conference matchup. The Lakers defeated the Sting in sets of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-17.
Lakeview played with a strong all-around team effort on both ends of the court.
Taylor Hinz finished with seven kills and seven digs, while Aubrey Nething had a trio of kills and four blocks. Laia Javens was also a big force at the front of the net with four blocks, along with her five kills.
Alli Isaacs finished with seven kills, Adison Hinz tallied six digs and Nicole Schwartz had eight set assists. Khya Gawarecki had a team-high 19 assists, along with her five digs.
Stats for Yellow Medicine East were unavailable at the time of publication.
Lakeview (8-7, 4-3 CC) travels to Marshall this weekend for the Jimmy John’s Invitational. The Lakers will open the two-day tournament against Montevideo (0-9) and Adrian/Ellsworth (8-5) at Southview Elementary on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Yellow Medicine East (4-10, 3-4 CC) goes on the road to take on Renville County West (9-4, 4-2 CC) for its next match on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
No. 10 BLHS 3, Wabasso 0
WABASSO — The red-hot Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart volleyball team was too much for Wabasso to handle on Tuesday night as the Mustangs swept the Rabbits 25-15, 25-18, 28-26 in Tomahawk Conference play.
Libero Audrey Johnson led Wabasso defensively with 13 digs, followed by nine each from ALexa Remiger and Kenley Guetter. Guetter also had a pair of solo blocks and one block assist while Carlee Jenniges logged three ace blocks.
Sara Carlson facilitated the Wabasso attack with 28 set assists, leading to nine kills for Carly Fenger and another eight for Guetter.
Wabasso (12-10, 3-4 TVT) returns to action on Friday for the first day of play at the Jimmy John’s Tournament at Marshall High School. The Rabbits match up against Dawson-Boyd (1-15) at 5:30 p.m. and Worthington (7-10) at 7:30 p.m.
