Deutz breaks pair of Marshall records at Border Battle
WEST FARGO, N.D. — Autumn Deutz broke a pair of diving records for the Marshall girls swim and dive team at the West Fargo Border Battle over the weekend, helping the Tigers to place seventh out of 15 teams at the event.
In the one-meter dive, Deutz put together a six-dives score of 195.10 and an 11-dives score of 337.25. The former broke Jocelyn Schlenner’s record of 190.00, set in 2023, while the latter broke Deutz’s own record of 335.85, set last season.
Deutz went on to place fourth in the event.
Finley Pelz also earned a pair of top-10 finishes at the event. She finished as the 500-yard freestyle runner-up with a time of 5:37.53 and placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:08.22.
Grace Rokeh earned a 10th-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:00.59 and an 11th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:12.86.
Alex Brown and Hailey Larsen also put together quality finished in the 500-yard freestyle, Brown placing ninth at 6:01.96 and Larsen 11th at 6:03.26.
Marshall’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Deutz, Aaliyah Podratz, Rokeh and Pelz placed fifth at 1:50.40. Podratz also placed 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:18.78.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Deutz, Podratz, Rokeh and Pelz placed eighth at 4:11.42.
Marshall next competes on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when it hosts Melrose Area for its home opener at the Don Palm Natatorium at 6 p.m.
