Amateur baseball roundup June 20, 2025
RAYMOND –Mitchell Bouwman’s heroic pitching effort wasn’t enough for the A’s to steal a road win over Raymond in Corn Belt League play on Friday. Bouwman threw 129 pitches over the full nine innings, holding the Rockets without an earned run, but the A’s lost 2-1.
The game was tied at one run apiece heading into the bottom of the ninth. A hit batter and an error put two runners on, and a passed ball allowed them to both advance into scoring position. Marshall got a fielder’s choice at the plate and Bouwman got a strikeout to leave Marshall one run away from forcing extras, but a wild pitch allowed the Rockets to walk off the A’s, 2-1.
Bouwman struck out 13 batters in the game while limiting the Rockets to four hits and two walks.
Raymond scored in the bottom of the first to take the lead, but Marshall responded with a tying run in the sixth.Cody Wichmann, Talan Plante and Connor Neubeck drew consecutive walks to load the bases with one out and Ryan Schwagel hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game.
Marshall falls to 8-4 with the loss and will next host the Willmar Rails on Sunday at 5 p.m. at Legion Field.
