BECKER — Despite playing a majority of the day in heavy rainfall, Lakeview senior Carson Boe and Minneota freshman Owen Dalager each medaled individually in the 2025 Class A State Tournament on Wednesday at Pebble Creek Golf Course. This marks Boe’s third straight year in the top-5 while Dalager is bringing home hardware in his first state appearance.
“It was a good, last tournament,” Boe said. “We certainly didn’t play how we wanted, but that’s just how it goes. We all had fun, and it was a good year.”
The Lakers took eighth place as a team, as they also did a year prior, and carded a collective 680, bettering their score by 21 strokes from last season’s 701.
Lakeview finished day one in sixth place with a 339, and shot 341 on Wednesday.
“Overall, most of the boys played a little better than yesterday,” Lakeview head coach Sarah Schultz said. “Our four, fives and sixes shot much better than yesterday, but it just wasn’t quite enough to be able to move up on the leaderboard.”
Boe has been a part of Lakeview’s identity the past several years, and was competing individually at state for the fifth consecutive season and as a team with the Lakers for four straight.
“I’m very proud of what I’ve done. The hard work has paid off,” Boe said. “It hurts to come up a little short, but still happy with the results.”
Boe walks away with a decorated high school career, finishing runner-up in last year’s tournament and third in 2023. He is also this year’s Camden Conference Most Valuable Player.
“It’s a big accomplishment to be able to come each year, but then to consistently place in the top and receive a medal each year, that’s something to be very, very proud of,” Schultz said.
Boe also placed 11th in the 2022 tournament, and 22nd in 2021.
Boe finished this year’s tournament with a 6-over 150, and carded five total birdies and met par 20 times. He shot a 1-over 73 on day one and 5-over 77 on the final day.
Lane Arends joins Boe as Lakeview’s two seniors, and finished the tournament in 36th with a 166. He finished Tuesday tied for 11th place with an 11-over 83, which he shot again on Wednesday.
“Carson and Lane have been leaders since they’ve been in seventh or eighth grade. It’s bittersweet,” Schultz said. “They both played well.”
Collectively, Arends shot two birdies and met par 16 times.
Arends also finishes his high school career on an impressive note after placing second in the Section 3A Tournament behind Boe, and was named to the Camden All-Conference team.
“It [state] was fun. There were a lot of ups and downs,” Arends said. “But, the team aspect is really fun and we’re really close as a team.”
Arends also noted that playing for Lakeview has been an “unreal” experience, and has enjoyed his time with the team and the successes they achieved.
Rounding out the Lakers, Legend Javens placed 78th, Landon Teske took 82nd, Trevor Tusberg in 85th and Koven Neuman placed 88th.
“They’re a good group. They always work hard, and they know what it takes to get here,” Schultz said. “Each year, that’s their goal is to get here [to state], and they set new goals once they get here.”
Dalager first got invested in golf just this spring as an extra activity to do with friends, yet went on to qualify for the state tournament in his first season. He controlled the top of the leaderboard individually a majority of the first round, and stayed inside the top-10 throughout the entirety.
“It was just fun to be around different people and see how other people just played the game,” Dalager said. “It really helped me see what I need to improve on going into next year.”
Dalager finished with a 7-over 151, carding a 2-over 74 in day one and shot a 5-over 77 on the second day.
Dalager made a statement early on in the opening round on Tuesday with four birdies, including three in a row, and nine pars. He shot one birdie and met par 12 times in round two, finishing the tournament with 21.
“I feel like this boosted my confidence in a way,” Dalager said. “Like, there’s a bunch of seniors that were ahead of me, so I should be up here again next year.”
Both Dalager and Boe were awarded their individual medals following the tournament.
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley were named state champions with a 613, while Heritage Christian Academy’s Alex Rhode took first individually with a 2-over 146.

Munson shot four birdies and hit par 20 times.
