RRC falls to Edgerton despite Stavnes’ six 3-pointers

TYLER — Russell-Tyler-Ruthton’s boys basketball team got its first win of the season after taking down Westbrook-Walnut Grove 67-60 Thursday evening.

RTR (1-1) will next travel to Edgerton next Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
WWG (0-1) will have its home opener next on Saturday at 11 a.m. when it hosts Mankato Loyola.
HLOF 58, Lakeview 55
WABASSO — The Lakeview boys basketball team had a hard fought battle, but came up just short in its season opener with a 58-55 loss to Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda.
Braylon Breyfogle led with 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Trevor Tusberg followed with 8 points and nine rebounds. Carson Boe finished with another 10 points, while Jackson Staab added 8 points of his own.
Lakeview (0-1) will next host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Saturday with a 10 a.m. tipoff.
Wabasso 81, Hancock 68
WABASSO — The Wabasso boys basketball team started their season off with an 81-68 win over Hancock Thursday evening.

Wabasso (1-0) will next host MACCRAY on Saturday at 11:15 a.m.
Edgerton 74, RRC 58
LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central boys basketball team fell to Edgerton 74-58 Thursday evening in their season opener.
Although trailing just 39-34 at the half, RRC couldn’t get in front to seal the comeback attempt.
Henry Stavnes led the way with 22 points and six made 3-pointers. Finn Batalden followed with 9 points, while Jordan Therkilsen added 8. Abe Stavnes finished with 7 points and five rebounds, while Austin Imker added another 7 points with four rebounds.
RRC, 0-1, will return to the court on Saturday with another home game against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, who is currently 0-2. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
