YME tennis tops Sauk Centre for second win of the season
GRANITE FALLS — Just days after picking up its first win in 46 matches, the Yellow Medicine East tennis team found its way into the win column again with a 5-2 victory over Sauk Centre.
The strength of the Sting’s win came from its performance in the singles matches.
Brianna Nelson won the top match 6-4, 6-3 against Emma Klaphake while Emma Keller defeated Amber Groetsch 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 in singles No. 2.
Continuing the singles sweep, Sarana West picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Abigail Anderson-Nyhus while Abigail Jimenez put together a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win over Aubree Randall in singles No. 4.
Kyla Smith and Carley Redepenning gave the Sting their lone doubles win in the No. 2 pairing, taking down Emily Wojtanowitz and Keely Klein 6-1, 6-1.
Sauk Centre’s Lydia Peterson and Samantha Gregory defeated Brooklynn Howe and Breea Johnson 6-1, 6-1 in doubles No. 1 while Aidenn Woeste and Anna Banegas beat Reagan Streich and Annelise Jahn 6-4, 6-3 in doubles No. 4.
Yellow Medicine East improves to 2-5 overall and 2-3 in conference with the win. They’ll host Marshall for their next match today at 4 p.m.
