SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Katelyn Leibfried, Anna Kuecker, Landrey Graven and Taleigha Bigler put together a big performance in the distance medley relay for the Marshall girls track and field team over the weekend. The group ran a time of 12:58.88 to give Marshall a first-place finish in the event at the Howard Wood relays in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The DMR includes four legs: the 1200 meters, 400, 800 and 1600. The Tigers’ victory came in an event that was not separated by class size.

Marshall also got a third-place finish in the Class AA 4×800-meter girls relay. Leibfried, Allyson Sample, Kuecker and Bigler combined to run a time of 9:30.48 in the event.

Sample was also the Marshall girls’ top individual finisher with an eighth-place finish in the 3200 meters, running a time of 11:05.03. 

On the boys side, Josh Leibfried was Marshall’s top individual witha seventh-place finish in the 1600 meters at 4:23.48. He also was the anchor in the boys DMR relay, wich also included Kohen Holcomb, Alex Franson and Mykel Paulson. The team placed second in the eventh at 10:40.79.

Autumn Deutz placed ninth in the girls pole vault at 10-09 while Franson took 10th in the boys 400 meters at 50.96. 

Canby/Minneota put together eighth-place finishes in the 4×800-meter Class A relay and the spring medley relay.

Marshall will next compete in true team sections at Jordan today.
