Mustangs earn 1-1 tie in matchup with WSC
WAYNE, Neb. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s soccer team saw a late lead slip away as Wayne State scored in the 83rd minute to earn a 1-1 tie on the road Friday afternoon.
SMSU broke the scoreless game in the 56th minute as Haley Mason scored her first career goal off a pass from Alex Lotts.
SMSU would maintain the advantage until WSC scored the equalizer on a rebound following a free kick.
Rachel Hicks started in the net and made five saves for the Mustangs.
SMSU (1-3-6; 1-3-3 NSIC) will have Saturday off before returning to action on Sunday with a 1 p.m. road matchup against Augustana University.
