LEGION BASEBALL: Marshall earns pair of wins in New Ulm tournament

NEW ULM — The Marshall Legion baseball team earned a pair of wins in the New Ulm tournament on Friday, defeating St. James 16-4 and Mankato American 7-0.

Against St. James, Zach Leibfried led Marshall with four hits and three RBIs while Charlie Jacobson added three hits and an RBI, Jon Gruhot had three hits and Tyler Maeyaert, Connor Neubeck, Andrew Wallen and Ezra Maurice each had two hits and combined for nine RBIs.

Ashton Rowe earned the win on the mound, going seven innings while allowing four runs on seven hits and struck out three.

Against Mankato American, Talan Plante led Marshall with three hits and an RBI while Neubeck added three hits and Wallen had two hits and two RBIs. Jacobson earned the win on the mound, going seven innings while allowing no runs on three hits and struck out 11.

Marshall (8-4) will face Rosetown today at 12:30 p.m. in Essig.
