SMSU SWIMMING AND DIVING: SMSU wins big over Minnesota Morris
MORRIS — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s swimming & diving team hit the pool for the first time in two months, defeating Minnesota Morris 188-65 at the Minnesota Morris Triangular in Morris on Friday night.
MacKenzie Kallevig won three events, two individual and one relay, to lead the Mustangs. She won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.57, the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.29, and the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:57.64. She was apart of the relay team with Maija Geier, Heather Arlen, and Addi Schroeder.
Schroeder also won three events, winning a pair of relays and one individual race. She won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.17 and added a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Kendyl Near, Quincie Klein, and Grace Busch.
Near and Klein each picked up individual victories, with Near winning the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:44.75, and Klein winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 11:51.15.
Natalie Bohnert continued her stellar season with three individual victories, winning the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:48.24, the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.97, and the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.67.
Annika Freiburger won a pair of events, taking the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:41.38, and the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:13.69. Elayna Geiser also picked up a victory, winning the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:29.62.
Sarah McDonald earned first place in one-meter diving with a score of 191.50 and three-meter diving with a score of 196.25.
Southwest Minnesota State travels to Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D. on Jan. 28 for a showdown with the Wolves starting at 5:30 p.m.
