SMSU VOLLEYBALL: Mustangs rank No. 23 in final AVCA ranking

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Southwest Minnesota State University volleyball team (21-8) moved down seven spots to No. 23 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top 25 Division II weekly poll released on Monday afternoon.

SMSU, which received 193 points, fell at the hands of St. Cloud State in the quarterfinals of the NSIC Tournament last month to end their season.

SMSU is one of five NSIC schools ranked in this week’s Top 25 with Concordia-St. Paul at No. 7, Winona State coming in at No. 9, St. Cloud State at No. 10, Wayne State at No. 18 and SMSU at No. 23.

Tampa finished as the No. 1 ranked team after winning the NCAA Championship, collecting 1,165 points.

Southwest Minnesota State finished the 2021 season with a record of 21-8.
