SMSU GOLF: SMSU’s Gallagher tied for 12th following round one of CSP Golden Bear Classic; SMSU in eighth overall

MAPLEWOOD — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team opened the first round of the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bear Classic on Monday shooting a 54-over-par 342 and is in eighth place at the nine-team tournament played at the par-72 Keller Golf Course.

The second and final round begins today with tee times starting at 9 a.m.

Sally Gallagher is the top Mustang individually after the first round and is tied for 12th overall in the 57-player field after shooting an 8-over par 80. Gallagher had two birdies and eight pars during the round.

Jacqueline Gossen finished with nine pars on Monday and is tied for 36th with a 14-over 86. Lauryn Driscoll carded a 16-over 88 and is tied for 40th after registering three pars and one birdie. Danielle Podoll also shot a 16-over 88 with one birdie five pars. Natalie Bohnert rounded out the SMSU team with a 26-over 98 with two pars.

Three Mustangs played as individuals on Monday with Anneke Weg leading the way with an 11-over 83 and is tied for 24th. She finished the day with one birdie and seven pars. Sydney Noel had a strong opening round with a career-low 15-over 87 and is tied for 38th, closing the round with one birdie and three pars. Ashley Trongard shot a 21-over 93 and is in a tie for 50th place.

Rogers State University is the team leader with a score of 13-over 301 and holds a seven-shot lead over Nebraska-Kearney. Isabella Dory from Concordia-St. Paul is the individual leader following a round of even-par 72.
