SMSU GOLF: SMSU places seventh at the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite

MARSHALL — The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team shot a final round 325 on Sunday and finished seventh overall with a 63-over 639 at the 23rd annual EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite. The 10-team, 36-hole event was played at the par-72 Marshall Golf Club.

Augustana won the team title with a 27-over 603 with the Vikings’ Molly Stevens capturing medalist honors with a tournament record 2-under 142 (69-73).

Sally Gallagher was SMSU’s top finisher placing tied for 13th overall in the 64-player field with a 13-over 157. Gallagher, who shot a career-low 75 on Saturday, finished today’s round with a 10-over 82 which included one birdie and 10 pars.

Anneke Weg carded a 7-over 79 today with three birdies and six pars to finish tied for 21st at 15-over 159. Jacqueline Gossen finished tied for 26th with a 17-over 161, following an 11-over 83 on Sunday with nine pars.

Lauryn Driscoll had one birdie and 10 pars on Sunday to help register a 9-over 81 and finish tied for 28th at 18-over 162. Ashley Trongard shot her second straight 15-over 87 with seven pars on Sunday to close in a tie for 51st with a 30-over 174.

Courtni Frank was one of four Mustangs playing as individuals on the weekend. Frank had seven pars today on her way to a 12-over 84 and tied for 39th at 24-over 168. Natalie Bohnert carded a 10-over 82 on Sunday, which included seven pars and one birdie, to finish tied for 45th at 27-over 171. Sydney Noel registered a 50th place finish with a 29-over 173. Noel had one birdie and eight pars on Sunday to shoot a 12-over 84. Danielle Podoll closed Sunday with seven pars to shoot a 19-over 91 and tied for 55th overall with a 36-over 180.

Southwest Minnesota State returns to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4, with the Mustang/Maverick Dual. The first day of the dual will take place at the Marshall Golf Club, while the second day will be play at the Mankato Golf Club.
