LEGION BASEBALL: Mudcats drop opener in Princeton against Hutchinson

PRINCETON — The Marshall Legion baseball team opened up play at the Princeton tournament with a 5-3 loss to Hutchinson on Friday night.

Hutch put the Mudcats into an early deficit that they couldn’t come back from, opening a 5-1 lead through five innings thanks to runs in four of the first five frames.

Marshall was held to just three hits in the loss, getting one apiece from Tyler Maeyaert, Charlie Jacobson and AJ Toulouse.

The lone RBI for the Mudcats came via Connor Neubeck, while Chase Douglas scored two runs and Brock Schultz scored once.

Mitchell Bouwman went the distance on the mound for Marshall and struck out six batters in the loss.

The Mudcats will continue play in Princeton today.
