MARSHALL — Led by a dominant peformance on the mound by Andrew Wallen, the Marshall Junior Legion Black baseball team opened its home tournament with an 8-0 victory over Bellevue East (NE) in six innings.
Wallen pitched all six innings for Marshall and finished with nine strikeouts and one walk with no hits given up for a no-hitter. The win moves Wallen to a perfect 5-0 on the hill this season for Marshall.
Marshall put together a balanced effort at the plate with eight players recording in the contest and finished with 10 hits overall. Wallen and Lincoln Graven led the way with two hits each that included a pair of doubles. Parker Schmitt recorded the third extra-base hit in the win.
Ezra Maurice and Coby Brownlee each drove in a pair of runs.
Marshall Junior Legion Black will be back at Legion Field tomorrow when the team takes on Alexandria at 9 a.m.
