PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: Marshall baseball earns sweep against Fairmont

MARSHALL — The Marshall baseball team earned a pair of wins against Fairmont on Friday, winning game one 9-0 and game two 6-5.

In game one, Connor Neubeck led Marshall with three hits while Cole Felcyn and Charlie Jacobson each had two hits and two RBI and Josh Baker and Brock Schultz each had two hits, with Schultz also recording an RBI. Jacobson earned the win on the mound, going seven innings while allowing just one hit and struck out 12.

In game two, Jacobson led Marshall with two hits and three RBI while Felcyn added two hits and two RBI and Baker had two hits and Neubeck had a hit. Felcyn earned the win on the mound, going three innings while allowing two runs on one hit and struck out one. Andrew Wallen tossed 2 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and struck out two and Tyler Maeyaert threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run on one hit.

Marshall (8-2) will face Mankato East on the road today at 1 p.m.

RTR 1, LQPV 0

MADISON – Hayden Gravley threw a one-hit shutout as Russell-Tyler-Ruthton defeated Lac qui Parle Valley 1-0 on Friday.

Gravley recorded 10 strikeouts in the win.

Dylan Werkman went 2 for 3 with a run scored to lead the Knights.

RTR will travel to Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday.

YME 8, TMB 4

TRACY – Yellow Medicine East defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 8-4 on Friday.

Jake Odegard went 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored to lead the Sting offense.

Cody Dahlager struck out nine batters over five innings to record the win.

Joseph Anderson went 2 for 4 with an RBI for the Panthers.

YME will host Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian on Monday while TMB will host Lakeview on Monday in Milroy.

COTTONWOOD – MACCRAY defeated Lakeview 14-4 in five innings in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Friday.

Six Lakers tallied a hit in the loss.

Carly Kosel was 1 for 1 with two runs scored.

COTTONWOOD – Lakeview earned a doubleheader split with a 9-8 win in Game 2.

TYLER – Russell-Tyler-Ruthton defeated Renville County West 15-0 in four innings on Friday.

The RCW pitchers walked 18 batters in the game, compared to just four RTR hits.

Cora Alderson was 1 for 3 with two RBI in the win.

TYLER – Russell-Tyler-Ruthton completed the doubleheader sweep with a 12-0 win over Renville County West in Game 2.

Kya Alderson pitched a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.

SLEEPY EYE — The Wabasso baseball team split a pair of games on Thursday against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, taking game one 6-2 before falling 12-9 in nine innings in game two.

In game one, Carter Benz led Wabasso with two hits and two RBI while Will Carlson added three hits and Matt Evink had two hits and an RBI. Benz earned the win on the mound, going seven innings while allowing two runs on four hits and struck out six.

In game two, Evink led Wabasso with two hits and two RBI while Adryen Tietz had two hits and an RBI. Tietz took the loss on the mound in relief, going 4 1/3 innings while allowing five runs on 11 hits and struck out three. Ty Altermatt earned the start, going 4 2/3 innings while allowing seven runs on 12 hits and struck out four.

Wabasso (6-4) will face GFW at home on Monday at 5 p.m.

MINNEOTA — The Minneota/Canby softball team split a pair of games against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Thursday, taking game one 15-12 before falling in game two 16-5 in six innings.

In game one, Abby Hennen led Minneota/Canby with four hits, including a home run, and five RBI while Abby Rost added three hits and two RBI, Summer Hennen had three hits, Audra Buysse had a hit and two RBI and Faith Myhre, Ava Larson, Ashlee Cole and Lexi Sanow each had two hits and an RBI.

Larson earned the win in the circle, going seven innings while allowing 12 runs on 16 hits and struck out six.

Megan Surprenant led TMB with four hits and four RBI while Mady Swan and Jadyn Lessman each had three hits and two RBI, Kiarra Danielson had three hits and Kamryn Petersen had two hits and an RBI.

Swan took the loss in the circle, going six innings while allowing 15 runs on 19 hits and struck out four.

In game two, Cole led Minneota/Canby with two hits and two RBI while Summer Hennen and Myhre each had two hits and Abby Hennen and Sanow each had a hit and an RBI.

Larson took the loss in relief, going 2 1/3 innings while allowing seven runs on 10 hits. Madison Hennen earned the start, going three innings while allowing nine runs on seven hits and struck out one.

Danielson led TMB with four hits and two RBI while Petersen had three hits and five RBI, Grace Dolan had three hits and three RBI, Amber Hensch had three hits and two RBI and Margaret Dolan and Lessman each had three hits.

Lessman earned the win in the circle, going six innings while allowing five runs on 10 hits and struck out three.

Minneota/Canby (5-6) will face RTR at home on Monday at 4:30 p.m. while TMB (7-2) will face Dawson-Boyd on the road on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
