SMSU WRESTLING: Ryan earns All-NSIC second team honors

BURNSVILLE — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Thursday morning Southwest Minnesota State University senior wrestler Jackson Ryan has been named All-NSIC second team as selected by the league’s 10 head coaches.

It’s the first time Ryan has earned All-NSIC accolades in his career.

A native of Inver Grove Heights, Ryan is 5-0 this season competing at 197 pounds with each victory coming via decision. He ranks third in the latest region rankings and is ranked No. 10 nationally.

Ryan, a 2020 NCAA national qualifier following a third-place finish in the region tournament, has 78 career victories ranking tied for 14th in program history.

Ryan is a 2015 graduate of Simley High School.

Southwest Minnesota State resumes action today competing at the NCAA Super Region V Tournament in Aberdeen, S.D. The top two finishers in each weight class and five wild-cards among the 10 weight classes will earn a trip to the NCAA Championships in March.
