SMSU women’s golf announces signing

MARSHALL — Southwest Minnesota State University head women’s golf coach Ross Webskowski announced Thursday that Danielle Podoll, from Aberdeen, S.D., has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and golf career at SMSU.

Podoll, a senior at Aberdeen Central High School for head coach Kim Zimmerman, has been a major contributor to the success of the Eagles’ golf program during her career. She has been a letter winner ever season since seventh grade and has placed 10th or higher at the conference meet every season. A multi-year all-conference honoree, Podoll has helped the team to three conference championships and one runner-up finish. She has been a member of four straight teams that have placed second at the South Dakota Class AA State Tournament. The 2020 spring season was canceled due to COVID.

“Danielle gained great experience by competing on the SDGA Sanford Golf Series this past summer which will prepare her for college golf,” Webskowski said. “We look forward to having her make a positive impact on our program and are very excited to have Danielle join the Mustang family.”

Podoll finished in the top 10 the past two summers on the SDGA Sanford Series and has also had success on the SDGA Junior Tour.

A member of the National Honor Society, Podoll has also been a seven-year letter winner for the girls’ hockey team, where she has helped the program to four state titles and one runner-up finish.
