PREP VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Marshall begins season with 3-0 win over Pipestone Area

PIPESTONE — The Marshall volleyball team defeated Pipestone Area 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-14) to begin the season on Thursday night.

Jordyn Hilgemann led the way for Marshall with eight kills while Leah Jones and Emily Meier each added six. Caitlyn Christenson led in digs with 19 while Hilgemann added 15 and Maysa Gillingham had 13. Gillingham led in set assists with 31 while Jones, Hilgemann and Taylor Ariasola led in blocks with one each.

Marshall (1-0) will face Waseca on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Canby 3, DB 0

CANBY — The Canby volleyball team defeated Dawson-Boyd 3-0 (25-8, 25-7, 25-12) to begin the season on Thursday.

Maya Wente led the way for Canby with 13 kills while Gabby Harding added eight. Rachel Harding led in set assists with 16 while Paige Nelson added 12, and Kyla Rangaard led in digs with six.

Ayiana Hastad led the way for Dawson-Boyd with five kills while Ella Johnson added three and Tarah Johnson had two and Kyndall Franzky had one. Franzky led in set assists with six while Hastad led in digs with seven.

DB (0-1) will face YME on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. while Canby (1-0) will face KMS on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

WWG 3, SWC 2

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team defeated Southwest Minnesota Christian 3-2 (25-20, 13-25, 13-25, 25-12, 15-7) to begin the season on Thursday.

Olivia Klumper led the way for WWG with 11 kills while Bethany Byers added eight and Kayla Freeburg had seven. Emma Wahl led in digs with 36 while Kelsey DeSmith added 11 and Lexi Herding led in set assists with 23 while Addeson Jenniges had 12.

WWG (1-0) will face Adrian on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

RRC 3, MCC 0

LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team defeated MCC 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-13) to begin the season on Thursday.

Karli Arkell led the way for RRC with 15 kills while Nicole Schroepfer added six. Schroepfer led in set assists with 13 while Nora Hemmingsen added 10 and Schroepfer led in digs with 11.

Bryn Hoekman led the way for MCC with 10 kills while Emily Rohrer added five. Kylie Frisk led in digs with eight while Brynn Graphenteen led in set assists with 21.

RRC (1-0) will face HBC on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. while MCC (0-1) will face HLO/Fulda on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

CMCS 3, YME 1

GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East volleyball team fell to CMCS 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 22-25) to begin the season on Thursday.

Yansi Flores led the way for YME with nine kills while Ruby Bones added six and Alli Steffen and Jadyn Sakry each had five. Aria Peters led in set assists with 14 while Kiara Sakry led in digs with 28 while Flores added 27 and Steffen had 24.

YME (0-1) will face Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
