PREP SPORTS ROUNDUP: No. 3 Minneota takes out Canby, 21-6

CANBY — The No. 3 Minneota football team defeated Canby 21-6 on Thursday.

Jacob Hennen completed 11 of his 21 pass attempts for 118 yards and two touchdowns while adding 78 yards on the ground and another score. Conner Sik led in rushing with 96 yards while AJ Myhre led in receiving with 72 yards on six catches and a touchdown and Joey Rybinski added a 25-yard touchdown catch.

Defensively, AJ Josephson and Beau Banish led Minneota with four tackles each.

Will Varcoe led the way for Canby by completing three of his eight pass attempts for 33 yards while adding 68 yards on the ground. Evan Weber added 37 yards rushing while also leading the receivers with 28 yards. Dylan Houseman recorded the lone touchdown for Canby on an 85-yard kick return.

Defensively, Weber led Canby with 13 tackles while Varcoe and Jake Wagner each added eight.

Minneota (2-0) will face YME next Friday at 7 p.m. while Canby (0-2) will face MACCRAY next Friday at 7 p.m.

Prep volleyball

TMB 3, DB 0

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton volleyball team defeated Dawson-Boyd 3-0 (25-10, 25-5, 25-10) on Thursday.

Jadyn Lessman led the way for TMB with nine kills while Kiarra Danielson added five and Camille Dolan and Kylie Hensch each had four. Margaret Dolan led in digs with 11 while Maddi Langerock led in set assists with 24.

Karoline Dahl led the way for DB with four kills while Ayiana Hastad, Kate Dahl and Ella Johnson each added two. Chelsie Husby led in digs with six while Tarah Johnson, Hastad and Kyndall Franzky each added four. Franzky led in set assists with six while Husby added five.

TMB (3-0) will face KMS on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. while DB (0-3) will face RTR on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

HLO/Fulda 3,

WWG 0

WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team fell to Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-19) on Thursday.

Olivia Klumper led the way for WWG with six kills while Kelsey DeSmith added five. Emma Wahl led in digs with 26 while DeSmith added 10 and Lexi Herding led in set assists with 18.

WWG (1-2) will face HBC on Monday at 7:15 p.m.

KMS 3, YME 1

GRANITE FALLS — The Yellow Medicine East volleyball team fell to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 20-25) on Thursday.

Yansi Flores led the way for YME with 12 kills while Alli Steffen added 11 and Ruby Bones had nine. Steffen led in digs with 29 while Kiara Sakry added 14 and Aria Peters had 13. Peters led in set assists with 23 while Alexis Smith had 15.

YME (1-2) will face LQPV on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

RTR 3, CMCS 0

TYLER — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton volleyball team defeated CMCS 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-16) on Thursday.

Haley Muenchow and Casey Swanson led the way for RTR with nine kills each while Ella Hesse led in digs with 14 and Maddi Wendland added 13. Kalleigh Carr led in set assists with 15 while Kyah Ellefson added nine.

RTR (3-0) will face Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

RRC 3, SWC 0

LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team defeated Southwest Minnesota Christian 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-17) on Thursday.

Karli Arkell and Nicole Schroepfer led the way for RRC with 11 kills each. Lilly Stavnes led in digs with 17 while Bianca Weis added 14 and Nora Hemmingsen led in set assists with 13.

RRC (3-0) will face Edgerton on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

MCC 3,

MLA/Comfrey 1

MOUNTAIN LAKE — The Murray County Central volleyball team defeated Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 25-11) on Thursday.

Bryn Hoekman and Emily Rohrer led the way for MCC with 10 kills each while Sophie Larson and Camdyn Kluis each added six. Larson led in digs with 14 while Kluis added 12 and Roher led in serving with six aces.

MCC (1-2) will face HBC on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
