Marshall tennis cruises past Pipestone Area 6-1

MARSHALL — The Marshall girls tennis team defeated Pipestone Area 6-1 on Monday. Marshall won all four singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to earn the victory.

At No. 1 singles, Gionna Parsa defeated Pipestone Area’s Olivia Lapthorn 6-1, 6-0 while Leah Matzner defeated Pipestone Area’s Emma Stahl 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles, Eden Knudson defeated Pipestone Area’s Toryn Woelber 4-6, 6-4, 10-4 while Mariah Bergjord defeated Pipestone Area’s Brielle Kulm 6-4, 7-6 at the No. 4 spot.

In doubles action, Kayla Polejewski and Dani Ewing defeated Pipestone Area’s Emma Czech and Jenna Boeke 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 at the No. 2 spot while Aubrey Bjella and Mackenna Eickhoff defeated Pipestone Area’s Kennedy Manderscheid and Sydnee Hubner 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Pipestone Area’s Mackenzie Manderscheid and Skylar Mendro defeated Leah Schaefer and Regan Loft 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot for its lone point on the day.

Marshall will face Redwood Valley on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
